Australian Standard of Quality

Natures Goodness Tea Tree Oil exceeds Australian Standard of Quality – As 2782-1985 Essential Oils.

To establish some consistency in the quality of the oil it was decided that the trees should be classified according to their cineole content.

Australian standard number As 2782-1985 for Oil of Maleleuca now requires that terpinen-4-ol content of the oil should be greater than 30% and the cineole content less than 15%. Controlled studies have shown that a correlation with better therapeutic qualities is found with high teroinen-4-ol grade of Tea Tree Oil.

This oil acts as a better bactericide and fungicide, while appearing to reduce the incidence of irritation. Oil with higher cineol and lower terpinen-4-ol is regarded as therapeutically inferior.
