History of Tea Tree

For something like 40,000 years the Aboriginal people roamed peacefully over the Australian continent living in harmony with their natural environment. When they were sick or injured, they looked to the plants of the bush for their remedies and found a great number with strong medicinal properties.

The early settlers were observant to notice the remedies used by the Aboriginal people living in their area and some even tried them out themselves, often with surprisingly effective results. They treated their cuts and wounds and any kind of skin infection by crushing the leaves of the tea tree, sprinkling them liberally over the injury and then covering it with a warm mudpack. As more settlers came to the area, the tea tree remedies began to spread across the continents.

For many years Tea Tree Oil was a popular, well recognised antiseptic. It was no until the development of synthetically manufactured commercial drugs that the natural oil began to be regarded as something of an old wives tale and people preferred to put there faith pills obtained from a doctor’s prescription. Today’s situation is reversed, as many people have become disillusioned modern synthetic drugs and worried about the harmful side effects. Which over the longer term can break down the immune system.

The worldwide trend to natural remedies and Tea Tree Oil is enjoying a great resurgence in popularity. And today Tea Tree is a very popular healing ingredient for people who prefer the natural alternative to pharmaceutical drugs and creams.
